Embrace Smart Partnership Dialogue, Sefue tells leaders

Leaders in Tanzania have been urged understand at heart and fully embrace the concept of Smart Partnership Dialogue for the rapid attainment of social economic development in the country.

The call has been made by the Chief Secretary, Amb. Ombeni Sefue over the weekend in Dar es Salaam when talking to journalists on the preparations of the International Smart Partnership Dialogue scheduled in May 2013 in Dar es Salaam.

He said that leaders at different levels should take advantage of these dialogues and listen to what their people say and recommend on the path to take on development.

“This is another opportunity for leaders to meet and listen what their people have to says and openly discuss with them and reach consensus,” he said.

The Ambassador noted that the main objective of Smart Partnership Dialogue is to enhance Government’s engagement with all sectors of the society in enhancing information, knowledge and expertise in finding solutions to sustainable development challenges.

The theme for the Global 2013 Smart Partnership Dialogue  is “Leveraging Technology for Africa’s Socio-Economic Transformation :The Smart Partnership Way”.

The Smart Partnership International Dialogues are held alternately between Malaysia and countries in Southern Africa and are  jointly organised by the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management (CPTM) and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT).

Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) has been designated as the hub for Smart Partnership Dialogue and has been tasked to undertake the National Smart Partnership Dialogue, commencing from the District, Regional up to National level in January 2013; as a stepping stone to the International Smart Partnership Dialogue.

Ambassador Sefue who also doubles as the Chairman for the TNBC Executive Committee said that every Tanzanian should strive to know the concept of Smart Partnership Dialogue through various media because it is a another wonderful opportune for them to participate in nation building process.

“There is no single person with monopoly of how things should go…we are all involved in one way or another,” he said, adding that everybody has the right to contribute ideas on the country’s development.

He said that leaders should take these dialogues seriously because the many contributions they will get from people the better in fine tuning decisions they will make that will eventually be inclusive in nature, benefiting a wide range of groups in their societies.

He said that nation building process need diverse groups of people and that is what the dialogue seeks to achieve.

He noted that this is another chance for the country to take into account contributions of citizens in making the nation’s Five Year Development Plan and the National Vision 2025 a reality.

The dialogue is a brainchild of the Commonwealth Partnership for Technology Management.

It creates a platform for key decision makers in both public and private sectors from various countries to come together and come up with solutions to social and economic problems bedevilling their nations.

President Jakaya Kikwete officially launched the national preparations for the coming Smart Partnership Dialogue in May this year, insisting that Tanzania seeks to leverage on technology as a requirement for development.
